Board Meeting October 6, 2021

Angela called the meeting to order at 7:00 PM. Board members present: Bill Nelson, Angela
Willenbring, Bruce Wessman, Sue Eckes and Gary Griffin. Kathy Anderson, Joan Covington, Jim McLeod,
and Ron Kragerud were absent.
Old Business:
Secretary's report: Bill made a motion to accept the secretary’s report, Gary seconded, and the motion
carried by unanimous vote.
Treasurer's report, Bill made a motion to accept the treasurers report, Sue seconded, and the motion
carried unanimously.
Navigation Channel: Angela informed the board that the channel between Kerbs and Little McDonald
has been completed.
New Member program: Bruce reported that the new member program is working well. 7 binders have
been handed out to new lake residents. The board was made aware of at least 2 residents who have not
been added to the lake directory. Bill Nelson will compare a map listing lake resident with our current
lake resident listing and identify lake owners who have not been added to our lake directory.
Directories: Sue will check with the beach captains to ensure that the current lake directories have been
handed out.
Walleye Stocking: Bruce reported that he met with the DNR and that the slot limit for walleyes will
remain at the current level. (releasing all walleyes greater than 17” and smaller than 26”, one walleye
over 26” is allowed) The DNR stated that the increase in northern pike and largemouth bass have
hindered the success of the DNR stocking program and that the walleyes stocked are just not reaching
the size needed for table fare.
New Business:
Bills to be paid: Bruce presented the board with bills that have been paid. In the discussion that
followed, the board members decided that it would be expedient to have the treasurer pay all the
common bills as soon as they are received, which will facilitate the payments being made on time. Bills
which occur sporadically or are for a special project, as well as those for more than $500, will still need
to be approved by the board before the treasurer pays them. Gary made a motion for the treasurer to
pay all common bills up to $500.00 without prior approval by the board. Sue seconded this motion and
the motion carried unanimously.
Suggested wording for new bank account signers: Angela will create a document with concise wording
for the board to use when a change in the board’s authorized signers occurs. This wording will need to
be included in the board’s motion when a current signer needs to be removed from the signature card
at the bank and/or a new signer needs to be added.
Light at the public access: A motion was made by Gary and seconded by Sue to fund a light at the public
access. Motion carried unanimously. The current amount for the light will be $144.00 per year. Bruce
will follow up with the DNR and LREC.
Privacy for board member: A motion was made by Bill and seconded by Gary to remove the board’s
contact information from our web site. This is in response to the spam emails which are occurring since
inclusion of board member’s emails on our web page. Motion carried unanimously.
New projects: Gary made a motion to increase the Lake Association’s fireworks contract to $5500.00 for
next year. Sue seconded. The motion carried unanimously.
The DNR stocks our lakes every other year, on odd years (for example: 2019, 2021, etc.). Several lake
association members are interested in stocking our lakes with walleye during the years when the DNR is
not doing so, but we would have to privately fund this stocking. Bruce made a motion for the Lake
Association to match, up to $500.00, any funds raised privately for stocking of walleyes by lake member
participants. Gary seconded this motion and it carried unanimously. Bruce will work with the DNR to
obtain a permit for a supplemental stocking program. Bruce will also work to create a LMKL Sportsman
Association to raise funds for this program.
Next board meeting: January 2022.
Other business: None
Adjournment: No further business appearing before the board, President Willenbring adjourned the
meeting at 8:05 PM.
